Official 2009 Holidays: Declared National and Regular Holidays in the Philippines

Maybe you’re planning your 2009 vacations this early. Most of the 2009 regular holidays and nationwide special holidays are movable, as provided under Republic Act 9492. For these movable holidays, the President is tasked by law to issue a Proclamation, at least 6 months prior to a movable holiday, fixing the specific date of that non-working day. The Philippine holidays listed below are under RA 9492 and Proclamation 1699, unless otherwise indicated.

National Regular Holidays and Special Non-Working Holidays (unless indicated as a special non-working holiday, these are regular holidays)

1. New Year’s Day – January 1, 2009

2. Special Non-Working Holiday – January 2, 2009 (Proclamation 1695)

3. EDSA People Power (All SCHOOLS Only; per Proclamation 1728) – February 23, 2009 (Monday)

4. Araw ng Kagitingan (Bataaan and Corregidor Day) – April 6, 2009 (Monday, nearest to April 9)

5. Maundy Thursday – April 9, 2009

6. Good Friday – April 10, 2009

7. Special Non-Working Holiday – April 11, 2009 (Proclamation 1752)

8. Labor Day – May 1, 2009 (Friday)

9. Independence Day – June 12, 2009 (Friday)

10. Cory Aquino Burial (per Proclamation 1851) – August 5, 2009 (Wednesday)

11. Ninoy Aquino Day – August 21, 2009 (Friday)

12. National Heroes Day – August 31, 2009 (Monday)

13. National mourning for death of Minister Erano Manalo (Proclamation 1874) – September 7, 2009 (Monday)

14. Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan) – September 21, 2009 (Monday)

15. All Saints Day – November 1, 2009 (Sunday)

16. Additional non-working day – November 2, 2009 (Monday)

17. Eid’l Adha – ARMM only (Proc. 1808, amended by 1808-A) – November 27-28 (Friday, Saturday)

18. Bonifacio Day – November 30, 2009 (Monday)

19. Additional non-working day – December 24, 2009 (Thursday)

20. Christmas Day – December 25, 2009 (Friday)

21. Rizal Day – December 30, 200 (Wednesday)

22. Last Day of the Year – December 31, 2009 (Thursday)

New Year’s Day 2010 – January 1, 2010 (Friday)

The Eidul Adha shall be celebrated as a regional holiday in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). The list will be updated, with specific dates, and other special holidays will be added as soon as the relevant Proclamation/s is/are issued. Click here for 2010 holidays.     sana walang pasok ngayonh December 28-29 para tuloy2x na ang holiday para maka sama namin ang mahal sa buhay kagaya last year ang sarap ng felling ang saya talaga…..plzzzzzzzzzzzzz
