Malacanang has declared 30 August 2011, a Tuesday, as a national non-working holiday (Proclamation 234). The holiday is in observance of the last day of Ramadan, also called Eid ul-Fitr or Eid’l Fitr. This means

Sunday, 1 May 2011, is significant for a number of reasons. May 1 is Labor Day. Pope John Paull II is beatified today. We also learned that President Noynoy Aquino declared a Monday, 20 June 2011, a national special (non-working) holiday.

There are two national non-working holidays in August — Ninoy Aquino Day and National Heroes Day. We know there’s a previous list of 2010 Holidays and maybe you’re already aware about these August holidays, but recent developments require a separate discussion for the Ninoy Aquino Day.

Malacanang has just announced that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared June 30, 2010 (Wednesday) a special non-working holiday through Proclamation No. 2085.  June 30 is the schedule of the presidential inaugural ceremonies for the incoming President of the Republic of the Philippines, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
